Mission
Luma Direct is a nonprofit that gives families structured, non-medical education and navigation after a type 1 diabetes diagnosis, with a focus on the first 90 days.
Who it serves
Families across the United States who are new to a type 1 diabetes diagnosis. Clinics and employers can refer families to us.
What families get
A 90-day program, free for families, in three phases counted from the day you enroll: Getting started (Days 1–14), Daily life (Days 15–45) and Cost literacy (Days 46–90). Families get plain-language guides, help preparing questions for their care team, and tools they save, like visit briefs, school notes and a cost and refill log. At Day 90 there is a completion summary. Luma is a program, not clinical care. It never replaces the care team.
How it's run
Luma Direct is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 41-4875233). The founder serves as Executive Director and is currently unpaid. Any future pay will be reasonable and documented. We are forming an advisory board. We do not give medical advice, doses, device picks or lab readings. Questions: support@lumadirect.org.
